Dear Mr. Thomas:
I have spent a good deal of my own career working on Aristotle's
theory of catharsis. A number of years ago I cooperated with the late O.B.
Hardison, Jr. on a translation (my part of the work) and commentary (his
part of the work). That volume is still in print. My own arguments
concerning Catharsis and other aspects of Aristotle's literary theory can
best be found in Aristotle: On Tragic and Comic Mimesis (Atlanta, 1992).
If you check the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, multiple articles on
Aristotle, you will find a useful bibliography.
