Greetings,

my recent post after nearly two years of inactivity on the -announce
list deserves some explanation, but there is more information for
subscribers to the -friends list as well.

HISTORY

During the hand-over of the list from ESR to Rob Funk and myself, the
current fetchmail maintainers, it turned out that nobody had access to
the list, and ccil.org were unable to respond. ESR's originally planned
6.2.6 never happened, and with some more changes we did we decided 6.3.0
would be a more adequate version number.

This has been resolved, and we've recently regained access to the
ccil.org lists. We'd however decided to move on to berlios.de in 2004
and have set up new mailing lists there.

FUTURE

We plan to shut down the fetchmail-related lists hosted at ccil.org
later this year. This leads to:

MAILING LIST CHANGE REQUIRES YOUR ACTION

If you're interested in following future fetchmail developments
YOU WILL NEED TO RE-SUBSCRIBE YOURSELF AT BERLIOS.DE.
You can find subscription and list information at
https://developer.berlios.de/mail/?group_id=1824

If you who were subscribed to fetchmail-announce at ccil.org:
we also have a fetchmail-announce list at berlios.de.

If you who were subscribed to fetchmail-friends at ccil.org:
  subscribe to fetchmail-users at berlios.de.

We are not transferring subscribers to the new place, since that
violates Opt-In principles and it is also our opportunity to purge bad
and obsolete email subscriber addresses from our list.

If you do not subscribe at berlios.de, you will not be receiving further
fetchmail announces and discussions after this list has been shut down.

THANKS

It is my pleasure to thank ccil.org for the support and hosting the list
for so long and Douglas Purdy for his recent efforts in getting the list
back under our control.

I'd also like to thank Sunil Shetye for his excellent contributions to
fetchmail's bugfixing and Graham Wilson for arranging the SVN repository
and helping with maintaining fetchmail and last, but definitely not
least, Rob MacGregor for his excellent support on the mailing lists.
(all these fine guys have been Bcc'd.)

Finally, thanks go to Berlios for hosting the download and websites.

MISC

If you're wondering about fetchmail 6.2.5.X releases, yes, they have
been made, but you should not use them. They are no longer maintained
and many bugs found in these versions are no longer present in 6.3.5.
They used to be band-aid fixes while distributors were preparing for
6.3.X.
