[fetchmail]pop server with mail already seen

I need to fetch mails from a pop server in which people keep mail
already seen.

My problem is that I have to fetch all the mails in a new server, but
I want to maintain their status: if a mail is marked as read, I need
that after the fetch it looks already seen also in the new server,
while the new mails must be marked as new.

Is this possible?
I have already used fetchmail and all the mails fetched are marked as
new.
