Maybe you report this to your ISP ?

Why not add the Line=20

defaults:
    ssl
    sslcertpath     $HOME/.certs/
    sslproto        tls1
    sslfingerprint  "EF:90:AA:A0:85:12:1F:B4:D1:E8:2A:1C:23:C2:F8:2E"

to your ~/.fetchmailrc ?
Then go to the ISP's website and look for the SSL-Cert.
Put it into your $HOME/.certs/ and make a hash on it

This will save you many trouble...
