[fetchmail]mail downloading problem

Well, I get an error like,

fetchmail: timeout after 100 seconds.
fetchmail: socket error while fetching from  <ip>
fetchmail: 6.2.5 querying <ip> (protocol POP3) at Wed Dec 22 09:09:45 
2004: poll completed
fetchmail: Query status=2 (SOCKET)

I started fetchmail as,
# fetchmail -v -a -f .fetchmailrc1 -t 100

(From yesterday I have started adding -e 1 to it)

What must be wrong? The machine is a mail downloading machine only 
and on dial-up. The connection is up when the problem occurs. The 
remote server is on a high speed line and I am on dial-up.
