You need to check to see that Format.com is on the floppy. It is often =
located at C:\WINDOWS\system32\format.com where you can copy it to the =
floppy.

Subject: [CCIL-User] formatting the hard drive
I have a drive with win ME, and one with XP, that I need to format. =
Using the dos prompt in the win start up gets me to the point where it =
says that all info will be lost, however, it then refuses to allow me to =
format. I've created a dos prompt disk, which boots up to the C:\> dos =
prompt, but tells me that "FORMAT C:" and any other combos I use (the =
same ones used for any other win applications which work), are a bad =
command etc. Can someone help me with the proper commands and what ever =
to format these hard drives?
Thanks Tom
