For some reason, this just came to my e-mail today, although it was
apparently posted back in January. According to the group archive,
it was just archived today, so maybe it was queued up in some black
hole somewhere. Hope you got your answer by now. Just in case you
didn't, read on...
CCIL used to have a news server of sorts, but it seems to have gone
away. Instead, you can often get news server access from ISP's for a
monthly fee, I've seen people quote fees from $4.95 to $9.95 / month.
A free option may be news.cis.dfn.de. I've read that they provide
a free news server for registered users. Here's a link to their

Good luck. Oh, and by the way, for searching archives from newsgroups,
you can't beat http://groups.google.com. You can also post through
google, but it's clunky.
