I can't explain them. I get through file attachments
using trial and error or not at all. However, I did find
a couple web links which might help....
http://www.angelfire.com/biz/rhaminisys/fileasoc.html
- free file association editor
I know nothing about this program. I came across it while
searching the web for a list of common file types & programs.
Virus check it before you try it and you assume any and all
risk if it acts contrary to how it's described. I am neither
endorsing it nor recommending it's use.
http://kg7ka.tripod.com/fileextensions.htm - a list of common file
extensions. Scroll all the way to the bottom for links to a very
comprehensive list.
Good Luck,
-Steve-
